My Story
It all really boils down to one statement:
I am a person who is passionate about clocks. I have many interests…antiques, antique tools and scientific instruments, reading biographies…and I am particularly fond of dogs. But undoubtedly what defines the person I am is my fascination for, love for, and care of antique and modern timepieces.
After graduating high school I headed to Texas to take a course in Horology. It was from my education there that I received a scholarship and the opportunity to continue my training in Switzerland at the Watchmakers of Switzerland Training and Educational Program (WOSTEP) where I learned a great deal about the intricacies of caring for a beloved timepiece. Upon my return to the U.S., I accepted a job in Connecticut servicing modern Swiss watches. On one of my many weekend jaunts I stumbled into a quaint watch/clock shop and met the man who would become my mentor. Under his tutelage I was taught the English “old school” methods of clock restoration. It is truly my privilege to have benefited from his 50 years of experience, expertise, and his love for the craft of clock repair.
After many years of apprenticeship I began to work on carriage clocks which have a reputation for being “difficult to repair”. It was also during this time in my career that I began to do freelance clock repair for Tiffany & Co. in New York City as well.
A handful of years later I purchased the business that is now simply known as the Village Clock Shop. Although I did originally have a store front, the loyalty of my customers and the amount of repair work eventually provided me the opportunity to work from home.
“Why move to Wisconsin?”, some have asked. Again, to put it in the simplest statement…I instantly felt “at home”. When I visited family for an extended stay I found that I very much enjoyed the slower pace of the Midwest and that the values of those living in Wisconsin aligned with my own. I still love traveling back to the East Coast for visits and work, but Wisconsin is now where my home…and heart live.
